CarbonScope Privacy Policy

Overview

CarbonScope (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is an offline-first mobile application that helps companies and ESG professionals estimate Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse-gas emissions. Your assessments, inputs, and results are stored on your device. We do not operate user accounts, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, or behavioural tracking in this app.

Information stored on your device

When you use CarbonScope, the app may store the following locally on your phone or tablet:

• Company details you enter (name, country, industry, reporting period, optional client tag)
• Emissions inputs (fuel use, electricity use, optional monthly breakdowns, notes)
• Calculated results, targets, scenarios, and methodology log entries
• App preferences (language, accessibility settings, notification preferences)
• Optional evidence files (PDF or images) that you choose to attach to an assessment — stored in the app’s private storage on your device

This information is not transmitted to CarbonScope servers because we do not operate backend servers for the app’s core functionality.

Optional features

Local reminders. If you enable notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device (for example, unfinished assessments or reporting-period deadlines). Notification content is derived from data already on your device. You can turn reminders off in Settings at any time.

Document attachments. If you attach bills or invoices, the app uses your device’s file picker. Selected files are copied into the app’s private storage and are not uploaded by us.

App store rating. If you choose to rate the app, your device may open the Google Play or Apple App Store review flow, which is governed by those platforms’ policies.

PDF export. When you export a report, a PDF is generated on your device. If you share it, you choose the destination (email, cloud drive, etc.) through your device’s share sheet.

Information we do not collect

• We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal data to our servers
• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app
• We do not request location, contacts, photos library, or microphone access for core features
• We do not create advertising profiles or track you across other apps or websites

Data retention and deletion

Data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual company assessments in the app, or use Settings → Clear all data to remove all saved assessments. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from your device, subject to your operating system’s behaviour.

Security

Because data stays on your device, you are responsible for securing your phone or tablet (screen lock, OS updates, backups). We recommend not sharing your device with untrusted parties if it contains sensitive business information.

Children’s privacy

CarbonScope is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International users

CarbonScope is designed to work offline on your device regardless of country. No cross-border transfer of your assessment data occurs through our systems because we do not receive that data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
